B.S., University of Louisville

Research Focus:
Christiaan’s current research focuses on the intersections of identity construction, power, trauma, and political reconciliation – particularly in prophetic texts. Christiaan’s research also looks at how the biblical narratives used for identity construction have been repurposed and appropriated throughout history – for liberative and oppressive purposes.

Background and Activities:
Before entering the seminary world, Christiaan was a middle and high school math teacher in Jefferson County, KY. His love for education and desire to continue a teaching career is part of the reason for pursuing a doctorate degree at Union.
