B.S., University of Louisville
M.Div., Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary
Research Focus:
Christiaan’s current research focuses on the intersections of identity construction, power, trauma, and political reconciliation – particularly in prophetic texts. Christiaan’s research also looks at how the biblical narratives used for identity construction have been repurposed and appropriated throughout history – for liberative and oppressive purposes.
Background and Activities:
Before entering the seminary world, Christiaan was a middle and high school math teacher in Jefferson County, KY. His love for education and desire to continue a teaching career is part of the reason for pursuing a doctorate degree at Union. While at Union, Christiaan has twice served as the Ph.D. representative to the Academic Affairs Committee, and also served as the Ph.D. representative on the student senate.
