Interested in exploring the social, ethical and religious implications of some of the rapidly proliferating technological developments in the field of Artificial Intelligence? Union Theological Seminary is offering an online graduate course this fall that will equip faith leaders and others to apply the ethical insights of religious traditions to crucial and urgent social questions, such as: What is AI? What are its possibilities and limitations? What are some of the social-ethical, spiritual, and religious implications of its widespread adoption-including its profound effects on economics, surveillance, healthcare, politics, and nearly every aspect of human life?
This course will be taught by Isaac Sharp. Sharp is Director of Certificate Programming and Visiting Professor at Union. His publications include the co-edited volumes Evangelical Ethics: A Reader (Westminster John Knox Press, 2015) and the forthcoming Christian Ethics in Conversation (Wipf & Stock, 2020).
The semester-long, three-credit course, will be offered online on Mondays (beginning October 5), from 2:10 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and the cost to audit the course is $600 ($150 for Union Alumni/ae).
