COVID-19 Guidance for the Union Community

In an effort to inform the Union Community with the most current information regarding COVID-19, we will update this page regularly with announcements. The Union administration is working closely with our partners at Columbia University Office of Preparedness and Columbia Health to monitor the virus and will continue to assess the situation.

What is COVID-19?

Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that cause mild illness like the common cold to more serious respiratory illness like pneumonia. A new version called COVID-19 was detected in December 2019 and appears to be highly contagious. There is evidence that it is spread from person to person by droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Symptoms may show up 2 – 14 days later.

For immediate questions, reach out to Columbia Health at covidtesttrace@columbia.edu. If any of you have any questions or concerns, please contact the following individuals:

Students should contact Dean of Students Charlene Visconti.
Faculty should contact Dean Pamela Cooper-White.
Staff should contact Diana Torres-Petrilli, Chief Human Resource Officer.
