Join NYC Chaplain and faith leader, Abeda Khanam, for a two-day workshop entitled  “Building Resiliency In Our Time: Mental Health, Mindfulness and Self Care,”​  sponsored by the VISION program at Union.

In the current political climate and mental health landscape, it is easy to lose hope. Building Resiliency offers workshops designed to support your work and commitment to well-being. Come as you are and leave with training in mental health, mindfulness, and self-care.

Abeda Khanam

Educator, Chaplain, and Mental Health Advocate

Named the 2015 Hometown Hero in Education, Abeda Khanam is a science teacher with the New York City Department of Education. Abeda is also a chaplain with the New York State Chaplain Task Force and a teacher leader with the United Federation of Teachers.  She is committed to work in continuing education for adult learners and has taught biology as an adjunct lecturer in the City University of New York. A firm believer that a healthy mind is needed to thrive, Abeda also focuses on teaching Mental Health First Aid to her fellow New Yorkers. Abeda teaches these wellness classes with the goal of promoting robust families and resilient communities.

Sessions will include THRIVE NYC mental health training and certification, and workshops on mental health, mindfulness and self-care for faith leaders from interfaith perspectives.
