As part of our ongoing “Faculty on the Road” initiative, we are delighted to announce that the Rev. Dr. Serene Jones, President of Union Theological Seminary and Johnston Family Professor for Religion & Democracy, will be the keynote speaker for the 2019 Seymour Symposium at the Olin T. Binkley Memorial Baptist Church, Chapel Hill, N.C., March 2-3, 2019.

While all area Union alums are welcome to register for and attend as much of the Seymour Symposium as their schedules permit, the Alumni/ae Relations Office will be offering a special opportunity on Saturday for alums – anchored by the Rev. Ian McPherson ’18 – to attend Dr. Jones’s morning presentations and gather with her afterwards for conversation over lunch.

9:15-9:30 a.m. Introduction of keynote speaker Serene Jones

9:30-10:30 a.m. Call it Grace Serene Jones, with Q & A following (Sanctuary)

Registration for the 2019 Seymour Symposium will be online through the church’s website, http://www.binkleychurch.org/seymoursymposium/, where you can also view the full Symposium brochure. When you register, please indicate that you are a “Union alum” by including that designation after you enter your name so that the church administrator can reserve the appropriate number of places at the table(s) with President Jones.

Registration is required for this event. Please register by February 28, 2019. Reservations for lunch: costs are $8 for adults, $4 for children. There is no fee for attending the Symposium. To register, click here.
