As part of Union Seminary’s “Faculty on the Road” program, we are delighted to announce that Dr. Larry L. Rasmussen—teacher, writer and activist—will share his thoughts on the topic, “Why Religious Communities Matter to Climate Justice,” on Saturday, February 2, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Round Hill Community Church, 395 Round Hill Road, Greenwich, Ct., where the Rev. Dr. Ed Horstmann ’85 serves as senior pastor.

Lunch will be served.

In his presentation, Dr. Rasmussen will speak to such timely questions as: If climate change tugs at how we think about the world and envisage its uncertain future, how ought religious communities enter the fray? What do they bring that is critical for climate justice and is not easily resourced by other communities?

Dr. Rasmussen is the author of the award-winning book, Earth-honoring Faith: Religious Ethics in a New Key (2013) and co-author, with Bruce C. Birch, Jacqueline E. Lapsley, and Cynthia Moe-Lobeda ‘01, of Bible & Ethics: A New Conversation (2018). He is the Reinhold Niebuhr Professor Emeritus of Social Ethics at Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York. He has served as the co-moderator of the World Council of Churches unit, Justice, Peace, Creation, among other influential positions.
