We are writing to inform you that unfortunately, we have to cancel tonight’s Spirit of Justice dialogue between Rev. William Barber and Michelle Alexander. Due to high winds, Rev. Barber’s flight was canceled and he will be unable to make it. Our apologies and we hope to be able to reschedule the even.

Join Michelle Alexander, best-selling author of The New Jim Crow, New York Times columnist and visiting professor of social justice at Union Theological Seminary, for her Spirit of Justice lecture series as she speaks with The Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II on Thursday, October 17 at 6:30 PM at Union Theological Seminary.

This thought-provoking conversation will explore interfaith theologies of liberation in this era of mass incarceration and mass deportation, and discuss the importance of interfaith groups working together in new ways to challenge the many walls that we build between us – from border walls to prison walls.

Rev. Barber is the visiting professor of public theology and activism at Union Theological Seminary, the pastor of Greenleaf Christian Church in Goldsboro, North Carolina, and a social justice activist working to address poverty and inequality. As the Co-Chair of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call For Moral Revival, Barber calls for a moral revolution of values in America by bringing attention to the issues of systematic racism, poverty and inequality, ecological devastation, the war economy and militarism, and national morality. This grassroots effort has held demonstrations, workshops, and set up local chapters in more than 30 states across the country.
