Thelma Ranjitsingh has been an educator all of her adult life, teaching English to adults in both India and Canada. Currently, she is in her final year of the Master of Arts program at Union Theological Seminary. Once she completes her doctorate on Paul’s preaching of genuine solidarity in the body of Christ—where the former cosmos of Aristotelian binary has disappeared to give way to a messianic dynamic of integration and fellowship—Thelma plans on working among the communities of Tamilnadu, India, toward the establishment of an egalitarian community, which she believes should start from the church. Thelma says that her education at Union is empowering her to join in the destruction of the hierarchical system of caste which remains in place today in large part due to Mahatma Gandhi. One of her dreams is to set up literacy and soft skill institutes in India to help the marginalized and the disadvantaged find jobs.
