Emergency Legal Assistance:
- If you are detained, you can request a free attorney through the Legal Assistance resources listed below.
- If you have an ICE check-in and you can’t find an attorney in time, you should contact First Friends to provide non-attorney accompaniment.
- If you have a court hearing, ask the judge for time to find an attorney. Utilize the Legal Assistance resources below to find an attorney. There might also be a friend of the court program that can provide some level of assistance.

- First Friends of New Jersey and New York – Offers a variety of services, like court accompaniment, visits in detention, commissary, bond services, etc.

- NYIFUP – Provides Universal Representation for Detained Immigrants Facing Deportation in New York State
