Union Theological Seminary has named Charlene Visconti as the new Dean of Students. She will begin on January 14. Visconti joins Union from New York University Shanghai where she served as dean of students since 2014.

In her prior role, Visconti was responsible for the overall student life experience and engaged an international community of scholars from diverse backgrounds. She also served previously as the Assistant Dean of Preprofessional Advising at NYU. Visconti holds a J.D. from New York University, a bachelors from Marymount Manhattan College and an R.N. diploma from Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing.

“I am pleased to have someone with her impressive credentials and global experience joining us at a time when we have increasing numbers of international students as part of our already diverse student body,” said President Serene Jones. “Charlene’s commitment to the well-being of students was very apparent to the search committee and me, and I anticipate our students will be served well by her.”

“I’m delighted to be joining the Union community and continuing the work of creating an environment where all students can thrive. And I’m excited to learn from and contribute to this vibrant community,” said Visconti.
