1836 Day Honoring Our Past. Investing in Our Students. Each spring, the Union community comes together to honor our historic founding in 1836 and to recommit to nearly two centuries of transformative education, theological leadership, and social impact. 1836 Day—Union’s Annual Day of Giving—is a declaration of values. It is our collective commitment to ensuring that a Union education remains accessible, equitable, and empowering for generations to come.
In 2026, funds raised on 1836 Day will: Strengthen the Student Emergency Fund, supporting students facing unexpected financial challenges; Invest in student-led initiatives that deepen academic life and strengthen communal belonging. The stakes are not abstract. When students lack support, opportunity narrows. When students are resourced, learning expands—and leadership follows. By giving on 1836 Day, you help ensure that Union’s students are equipped not only to study, but to act—to lead with courage, wisdom, and hope in a world that urgently needs all three.
Join us on 1836 Day. Together, we can build a future where every student has what they need to serve, lead, and transform the communities they touch.

FAQs
What is 1836 Day?
1836 Day is when Union shows up for its students. It’s a moment to say—out loud and with resources—that theological education rooted in justice, truth, and liberation should not be reserved for the few who can afford it. This is how a community takes responsibility for the future it claims to believe in.
When is 1836 Day?
1836 Day occurs on March 14, 2026, with giving open from March 13 through March 15. This is a focused window to act—because justice does not wait, and neither do the students preparing to meet this moment with courage, conviction, and care.
Will my 1836 Day contribution be tax-deductible?
Yes. Your gift is tax-deductible, and you’ll receive an email receipt for your records. More importantly, your giving helps sustain students preparing for the work of justice.

You can give online through our giving page, or you may mail your gift. If mailing, please include “1836 Day” in the memo line so your contribution is counted correctly.

Will my contribution help Union maintain affordable tuition and housing?
Your gift strengthens Union’s ongoing work to keep education accessible.
