1836 Day: Support Our Students

Each Spring, members of the Union community commemorate our founding in 1836 and celebrate nearly 200 years of excellence and prominence by Giving Back on 1836 Day, Union’s Annual Day of Giving. The costs of graduate study have become increasingly prohibitive, and many of today’s Union students sacrifice mightily to gain the scholarship, skills, and empowerment that come with a Union degree. Union remains committed to making efforts to keep tuition, fees, and on-campus housing comparatively affordable for those in New York City. However, unforeseen circumstances can dramatically impact a student’s journey to success.

That’s why Union is dedicating all contributions raised on 1836 Day to support Union’s Student Emergency Fund and other community initiatives aimed at helping students cover unexpected expenses, such as medical bills not covered by student health insurance, food insecurity, or emergency travel due to a family member’s death.

We’re excited to share that our friends at Bubby’s, one of NYC’s cherished restaurants and pie shops, are providing a generous matching gift. If at least 100 donors support Union’s 1836 Day, Bubby’s will amplify their impact by contributing $25,000 to our cause. Your contribution, regardless of its size, will be multiplied exponentially.

Please give on April 15th to ensure that members of the Union community can remain strong, focused, and resilient, despite the untimely challenges that life may bring.
