Background and Activities
Zachary is a proud member of the National Baptist Convention USA Inc.
He is a Ph.D. Representative for the Student Senate at Union Theological Seminary
He is the Ph.D. assistant to the Director of Union Theological Seminary’s PhD program, Dr. Jan Rehmann
Zachary’s research focuses on the notion of socio-ecological transformation as the ultimate concern and is centered on the constructive intersections between the political, philosophical, and systematic theology of Paul Tillich and the Black Liberation theology of James H. Cone. Zachary’s research emphasis includes creative twenty-first-century conversations between systematic theology, Womanist theology, and Black Liberation theology and their relationship with the theology and ethics of his Ph.D. advisor, Dr. Gary Dorrien, and his groundbreaking work on the nineteenth-century philosophy of Kant, Schleiermacher, Hegel, Schelling, as well as Dr. Dorrien’s trailblazing work on Martin Luther King Jr. and the Black Social Gospel.
Zachary looks forward to being the Teaching Fellow in his PhD advisor, Dr. Dorrien’s course on Kant and Hegel.
