In observance of Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, the FIERCE Caucus at Union Theological Seminary presents the screening of “War-Angel: The Awakening”.
“War-Angel” is an award-winning story based on true life events of a young man named Matthew. Matthew is dealing with his identity growing up in the black church. He experiences being bullied and attacked to the point that he is almost killed. Matthew survives an attack only to find he has AIDS. Just when death seemed definite, Matthew is saved by an Angel, and decides to become an advocate for those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and the LGBTQ community. “War-Angel” is a transformative and heroic story that will amaze you.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Matthew Carter, the author and director of “War-Angel,” and HIV/AIDS professionals. Admission is free and open to the public.
