The Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) is currently in NYC all the way through March 12th in order to engage and mobilize community members and students in their ongoing Wendy’s campaign. As you may be aware of Wendy’s, an Ohio-based corporation is the only major fast-food corporation to refuse to partner with them in order to end gender-based violence and modern-day slavery in their supply chain. NYC plays a pivotal role in their campaign because the Board Chairman and majority owner of Wendy’s is based here. Due to this, in 2018 they had the 2018 Freedom Fast — a major action that saw over 2,000 New Yorkers march alongside 100+ CIW farm-workers and their families in order to demand an end to gender-based violence in the fields. Most recently, they had a 500+ march this past November in order to continue to call on Wendy’s to ensure human rights protections for the farm workers in their supply chain. This is why CIW has decided to return this Spring to NYC for their 2020 “Follow the Money March“.

Join the International Caucus on March 5th to learn more about the CIW and their upcoming “Follow the Money March!”
