50 years have passed since the release of the momentous Vatican II document, Nostra Aetate, “Declaration on the Relation of the Church to Non-Christian Religions” which transformed exclusivist Christian attitudes toward other world religions. This panel (and book) looks back on that document, its meaning, legacy and ongoing promise, and it does so interreligiously. What does Nostra Aetate mean for us today? Does Nostra Aetate have a future? Contributors to the volume, Paul Knitter, Roger Haight, Jerusha Lamptey, and John Thatamanil of Union Theological Seminary as well as Jeannine Hill Fletcher of Fordham University will discuss these questions and their contributions to the volume. Dean Mary Boys will serve as respondent.
