Knowledge and Nourishment | Remembering John Lewis
Join President Serene Jones for a Knowledge and Nourishment webinar with David Fankhauser on Thursday, July 30 at 10:00 AM. An activist and Freedom Rider, Fankhauser spent time in Parchman State Penitentiary with the late Rep. John Lewis. An RSVP is required to receive the Zoom details.
David Fankhauser was one of the first Freedom Riders arrested in Jackson, Mississippi, on May 28, 1961, while protesting the illegal segregation of interstate facilities throughout the South. He spent 42 days enduring inhumane conditions in the maximum-security unit in the Jackson City Jail and Parchman State Penitentiary before being released.
This timely conversation between Fankauser and President Jones will discuss the Freedom Riders movement, and the life and legacy of Rep. John Lewis, who is being laid to rest this week.
