Millions of young people participate worldwide every week in “Fridays for Future”, global school strike actions and other demonstrations.

In the US, the Green New Deal, submitted by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Edward Markey, has become the most prominent political project of these movements, with a radically intersectional approach: it connects a strategy for reducing greenhouse gas emissions to zero with higher tax rates for the 1%, with the creation of millions of jobs, with the aim of addressing the historic oppression of indigenous peoples, communities of color and migrant communities.

Please join us for an introductory discussion of and exploratory dialogue about the resolution, its content and its aims, and what we can do to support the movement as a community of students and organizers.

Initiated by a working group of J. Rehmann’s Critical Theory Class, and sponsored by the Student Senate, Doctoral Seminar, Kairos Center, and the Center for Earth Ethics.
