Columbia University Cross Registration Form | Cross Registration Form for All Other Schools
Cross-Registration
Union has cross-registration agreements with several institutions (listed below). Degree-seeking students at Union interested in cross-registration should thoroughly review the policy on “Courses at Other Institutions” in the Academic Catalog and complete the appropriate form, linked above and below, to request approval.
General Information for Union Students
- Students are generally limited to one course a semester at other schools. The total number of cross-registration credits permitted varies by degree program; consult the Academic Catalog or the appropriate degree program guide for details.
- Only graduate-level courses are eligible for cross-registration. Refer to the details for each school below to learn how to determine if a course is eligible.
- Cross-registration forms are due during the registration period for each semester, and may not be submitted during the add/drop period.
- Instructor permission from the host institution is required; when obtained, the student is responsible for forwarding the email permission to the Union registrar.
- There are additional restrictions on taking courses at Columbia University. Please review all parameters closely before submitting your request.
- Students are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the academic calendar of the school at which they are taking a class, including school holidays and withdrawal deadlines, and with any relevant academic policies.
Information for Students from Other Institutions
Students from other institutions should, after receiving permission to register from the appropriate faculty member at Union, initiate the cross-registration process with the registrar of their home school. Generally, visiting students from other institutions (with the exception of Columbia) do not have access to electronic resources through the Burke library at Union. Visiting students who need to access these resources should write to [email protected] to explore their options.
Cross-Registration Forms
To register at a NY Theological Consortium school, Drew Theological School, or at Teachers College, use this form.

Students should forward approval from the professor teaching the course to the registrar. The completed cross-registration form will circulate among a student’s academic advisor, registrar, and academic dean for approval. Certain Columbia University courses are also part the cross-registration agreement:
