Union Theological Seminary will operate two residence hall during the 2020 – 2021 school year; Hastings Hall and McGiffert Hall. Union’s Residence Halls offer a safe and communal living environment from which to venture out into New York City.
A seven-story residence hall with dormitory rooms, studios, and swing suites directly connected to the central Seminary complex. Newly renovated for the 2020-2021 academic year, Hastings will feature all new heating and cooling systems, windows, furnishings and flooring, and more secure entry system. Lounges on each floor will provide residents communal spaces for cooking and socializing. Hastings will also have a comfortably-appointed main lounge in which to gather, study, watch television and relax. Other features include laundry facilities, elevator service, and a mailroom. All bathrooms are gender-neutral.
A seven-story residence hall with both dormitory rooms and apartments is located directly across the street from the central Seminary complex and is connected by a pedestrian tunnel. The residence hall provides laundry facilities, elevator service and a mailroom.
Limited storage is available. For dormitory rooms, boxes and other items may be stored in a large closet shared by the floor. There are no storage facilities for studios and apartments. Dormitory rooms are on floors one and two. The floors are co-ed. The Seminary provides a kitchen, lounge and bathroom(s) on each of the dormitory floors. Studio and one-bedroom apartments are available in McGiffert Hall. All are self-contained with a private bath and kitchenette.
Women’s Interfaith Residency Program
Each year, the Women’s Interfaith Residency Program invites five women from different faith backgrounds to probe new contexts for interfaith dialogue by living together in an intentional community.
